My Pitch

My pitch went quite well though I actually skipped out on a lot of things I wanted to say during my pitch which is probably why I felt like I went through it too quickly but no worries, it went okay in the end.
I got some positive feedback on my design about how it's interesting because the aspect and social media I chose is different and that the original poster i'm basing it off of is something that is uncommon compared to what most others have done.
I didn't get much constructive criticism which i'm disappointed by because I would of liked to know where I could make improvements and changes to my design and so I would also have more to write up about it, as now I'm not sure which direction to take my design in, to progress further.
The only thing I have to consider now is the colouring style of my poster and if there should be any changes to the background of my poster.

I started off with a simple slide with the project title and my name whilst giving a quick summary of the brief just to introduce my pitch. I then went into my initial research and the first thing I did was go onto 3 social media sites which I thought I could make designs for and took down notes of their aspects to see which one stood out to me most and generated the most ideas for me.

I then showed them some quick mood boards that I drew up including examples of propaganda posters, some being historical and some being modern, to see if any of these would inspire a design for my idea.

I then revealed the social media that I've chosen to do as well as the aspect that i have decided to promote for my chosen social media, explaining why i've chosen Lookbook as my social media and why I want to promote the Hype feature.
The reason I chose to promote Hyping on LookBook is because the site is less well established and not many people know of it yet their hype feature is very similar to face book's like feature. With this i'm hoping that when people see the similarities in liking and hyping they will want to use LookBook more and start hyping instead of liking.

I then showed them the research I did for Propaganda posters based on women and how I can base my poster design and get inspiration from it which you can read about from my previous posts here: Propaganda For Women

I showed two rough sketches of designs I came up with which is based off of two of my posters, as at first I was planning to make two posters but I soon changed my mind and decided to do only one poster, because the second poster I chose to base one of my designs off was fairly modern and I was finding it difficult to find a historic poster which was related to it or was very similar to it, and therefore I couldn't make much relation to my design with posters from 1900-1950.

I then showed my colour palette which I'm going to be using for my poster as well as my font choice and justifying my choices. The colour palette I'm using is sampled from the original image so I know they work well together. I'm also going to add black white and light grey because it's the theme from the LookBook website and it'll work well with the rest of the colours because they are greyscale, which can easily be incorporated with my colour palette. The fonts that I am going to use are closely matched with the font on the original poster and I wanted to try and keep my poster in a similar style to the original so that the relation is easily recognised.
I Then showed the line art for my final design and the original next to it so that I could explain the comparison and my ideas and some things that I have changed from my rough sketch and things I might include in it. I'm thinking of having "Hype is the new Like" at the bottom of the poster where there is supposed to be text as I haven't come up with any other slogan that I could put there which is similar to the original's slogan. I'm also thinking of colouring it to have that watercolour sort of texture like it's been hand painted to keep it in the style of the original.
