I had my first meeting with my client and they showed me a very rough story board which was pretty difficult to interpret and a half finished neater story board. They explain the details of the story board to me and the vague idea of the plot it follows which starts off with the hosts coming out of a cinema and into a taxi, they then drive from the city to a suburban area and the journey shows them driving past characters and references from classic movies.
I discussed my idea for the art style with them and they seem to approve, they said that I have a lot of freedom over the art direction and overall drawing style of the characters and scenery as long as it has some sort of 1960's elements in some places, such as the taxi or the clothes the host is wearing, and as long as there are some movie references in there. They have included a lot of references in their story board which seems like a lot to draw so I may have to cut some of them out and only keep in the major classic ones.
I asked them about music and they said that they can get music made for me and that they'll email me the music along with a finished story board and some photo references of the hosts for me to draw from as soon as they can. We have set another meeting for the 18th March where I will pitch my ideas to them and show them some digital work I have done up to that point.
